NOTTINGHAM

Aromatic Chemistry with Marie Wayte

This one-day CPD course is specifically designed for those Aromatherapists who are 'scientifically challenged' by the chemistry of essential oils.  If you never understood the difference between a terpene and a phenol, an atom and a molecule then this course will be perfect for you.

Learning is focussed on fun, creative ways of understanding this amazing and useful (yes, 'useful'!!) aspect of Aromatherapy.  You will learn to appreciate which chemicals are more effective when targetting different complaints.  For example, blending oils that are high in monoterpenes with oils high in oxides creates a more synergistic blend when dealing with respiratory ailments.

By the end of the day, you will understand how to create a blend which makes best use of the chemical interaction between each oil and the human body - in fact you will begin to wonder how you ever managed to blend without an understanding of aromatic chemistry.  Not only that, but you will also have the satisfaction of knowing that essential oil chemistry is no longer the mystery it once was!

Charge: £89

CPD Points: 1 CPD point per hour

Venue: Rosewood College, 128 Main Street, Newthorpe, Notts NG16 2DG

NOTTINGHAM

Indian Head Massage with Marie Wayte

Indian Head Massage (also called 'champissage') involves specific massage moves to the head, neck, shoulders, arms and face.  It is an incredibly relaxing therapy based on ancient Ayurvedic healing philosophy which has been practised in India for over a thousand years.  Ghandi himself had a daily massage, believing it boosted his energy levels whilst also keeping him in touch with his spiritual mind.

The versatility of IHM means that it can be performed on a client who is either lying on a couch or seated in a chair, with or without the use of oils and also through a minimum amount of clothing if necessary.  This course will not only cover the practical aspect of actually giving an IHM but will also examine the various conditions that respond well to this therapy.  The various therapeutic properties of a selection of oils will also be considered in order maximise the benefits of each treatment.

If you already have a qualification in Anatomy and Physiology (Level 3, or above) and wish to develop your skills more specifically, IHM is an excellent direction to take.  An ancient proverb states that, "A happy mind is medicine; no better prescription exists".  Learning Indian Head Massage takes an individual one step closer to a happy mind!

If none of the following dates are convenient, you are welcome to contact Marie (marie.wayte@rosewoodcollege.com) to arrange a date that is more suitable. Alternatively, you can sign up for our Newsletter giving details of forthcoming training dates and events - click here.

Synopsis

Are you a massage therapist, bodyworker or fitness instructor wanting some advanced skills?
Muscle Energy Technique (MET) is a method of stretching muscles and is widely used by Sports Massage Therapists and Fitness Instructors.

CENTRAL LONDON

Soft Tissue Release with Doreen Uzice

Dates: TBA Please contact the provider for dates and related costs Doreen - doreen@quantummetta.co.uk

Venue: London

Synopsis

Soft tissue release (STR) is a technique used to apply stretches to specific parts of a muscle rather than to the whole muscle. If there are areas of scar tissue, adhesions or extra tightness within an otherwise healthy muscle, or if dealing with clients who are hyper flexible, STR can be performed to reach those particular fibres or small areas not ordinarily released through more general stretches. STR is a very useful tool that can be utilised independently or easily incorporated within your massage treatments to make them even more effective and the benefits longer lasting.

This is what's covered:

  • The principle of STR and how to apply it to muscles effectively and safely
  • When to use STR, and when not to
  • How to use STR over clothes
  • How to use STR within a massage treatment with oil
  • Applying STR to major muscles (legs, arms, back, neck, chest, pelvic area)
  • Applying STR with the client in prone, supine, side-lying and seated positions

The workshop is mostly practical with plenty of opportunity to practise, and a workbook is provided.
