The IFA & The NHS & McMillan Cancer Support Group

NHS_Logo.jpgThe IFA works closely with the NHS (George Eliot Hospital) and McMillan Cancer Support Group in the UK. The IFA and George Eliot Hospital are combing their efforts to promote their new Project Oasis, to help patients using Aromatherapy. Midwives at George Eliot Hospital marked The International Aromatherapy Awareness week by bringing attention to the benefits of aromatherapy for pregnant women.

Aromatherapy Awareness Week has been orchestrated by the IFA to bring attention to the following:

  • The benefits of genuine aromatherapy in promoting positive health and wellbeing
  • Aromatherapy as a Complementary Medicine
  • International & UK standards in the professional practice and training of Aromatherapy

Research has shown that aromatherapy can bring a range of benefits to women in the late stages of pregnancy and midwives have adopted the therapy as part of the hospital’s drive to make the birth process as natural as possible. Benefits include helping to relieve common discomforts, creating a comfortable relaxing environment, increasing the efficiency of the uterus during the labour process and increasing the mother’s natural coping strategies, to name a few. The George Eliot Hospital is one of the forerunners in providing aromatherapy treatment to pregnant women and has been assisting other Trust’s around the country in setting up a similar care package.
